Job description
As a Data Governance Specialist, you will define and operationalize our data governance model, enabling teams to use data securely, compliantly, and at scale. You will work closely with business and engineering teams to improve data quality, GDPR compliance, and metadata transparency using practical processes and modern tooling.
What you will do
- Policy & Frameworks: Define and maintain data governance policies, standards, and ownership models (quality, security, privacy, retention)
- Data Management: Drive data quality, master data, metadata, and reference data practices across domains
- Compliance: Ensure alignment with GDPR and internal controls, supporting audits and regulatory requirements
- Tools & Platforms: Operate and evolve data governance tools such as data catalogs, lineage, and monitoring solutions
- Collaboration: Act as a key interface between business stakeholders and technical teams
- Enablement: Promote data literacy and governance adoption through training, workshops, and clear guidance
- Monitoring: Track compliance and data quality metrics and support remediation efforts.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Tableau?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Management, Business Informatics, or a related field
- Hands-on experience in data governance and data management, including policies, stewardship, data quality, and metadata across multiple domains
- Strong SQL skills with a solid foundation in data modeling and database architecture; experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau); Python and modern DevOps/data engineering practices are a plus
- Practical experience with modern data platforms and lakehouse concepts (ideally Databricks), including defining data quality rules, lineage, access controls, and issue management, preferably with some level of automation
- Good knowledge of data-related regulatory requirements, especially GDPR, data privacy, retention, and auditability, and the ability to translate them into concrete controls., * A structured, analytical mindset with a pragmatic approach to scalable governance and operating models
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to turn business needs into clear governance controls and data quality rules
- Excellent communication skills to explain governance concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- A collaborative and proactive working style, aligning business, legal, security, and engineering stakeholders
- Curiosity, ownership, and a continuous improvement mindset focused on building trust in data
- Adaptability and a willingness to learn in a fast-changing regulatory and technical environment
- A strong commitment to quality, documentation, and audit-ready, sustainable processes.
