Job description
As a Senior Platform Engineer in our Edge & Networking team, you are the guardian of Mollie's gateway to the world. You'll own and maintain the critical infrastructure components that serve as the main entry point for all customer traffic. Because you sit directly in the critical payment path, your work ensures that every transaction-the lifeblood of our 250,000+ merchants-is handled securely, reliably, and at scale.
You will join the Developer Enablement domain, where our mission is to build our own flavour of GCP infrastructure to host our applications. You won't just be maintaining systems; you'll be a key influencer and decision-maker, helping our product teams ship often without ever compromising on security or reliability. You'll lead by example, acting as a master of your craft and a proactive problem-solver for the entire engineering organization.
What you'll ship
- Design and operate highly available systems, implementing strategies for failure and leveraging your deep knowledge of distributed systems to ensure 24/7 reliability.
- Optimize the Edge API Gateway, ensuring a seamless and high-performance user experience for both internal engineers and external partners.
- Scale the Mollie Cloud Platform (MCP), automating infrastructure management through code (IaC) to empower product teams to create value faster.
- Collaborate across Engineering, working with system and software engineers to set and maintain SLOs and SLAs that meet the evolving needs of our merchants.
- Drive observability and monitoring, using tools like Datadog to provide deep insights into our networking and cloud infrastructure.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Python?, * 4+ years of experience in Platform or Infrastructure Engineering, ideally with a background of "Software Engineer turned DevOps" or extensive network management experience.
- Expertise in Cloud Networking & Kubernetes, with a proven track record of managing complex cloud infrastructure at scale (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Strong programming skills in Go or Python, allowing you to build the automation and tools that keep a modern fintech running.
- Mastery of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), ensuring our cloud resources are versioned, repeatable, and secure.
- A proactive, leadership-oriented mindset-you are comfortable making high-stakes decisions and identifying technical challenges before they become roadblocks.
- Nice to have: Experience with API Gateways, messaging systems like RabbitMQ/PubSub, familiarity with PHP or Java, basic Lua programming.
