They are looking for a versatile Database and Infrastructure Engineer to join their UK headquarters. This is a rare "hybrid" role where you will bridge the gap between Database Administration (DBA) and Systems Engineering. You will be responsible for the heartbeat of their customer platforms-ensuring 24/7 availability for systems that truly matter., Working from a rural, high-tech site near Northampton, you will manage a complex ecosystem of SQL and NoSQL environments, virtualization, and networking. This isn't just a "maintenance" role; you will be optimizing performance, designing resilient architectures, and occasionally traveling internationally to support high-stakes customer deployments., * Database Mastery: Performance-tuning and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server (Availability Groups/Replication) and MySQL (Galera Clusters).
- Infrastructure Resilience: Configuring firewalls, VPNs, and networking to ensure seamless, secure connectivity.
- Virtualization: Managing vCenter and vSphere environments to host mission-critical applications.
- Global Impact: Providing technical expertise for internal systems and traveling abroad to ensure successful client installations.
- Best Practice: Documenting processes to maintain a standard of excellence across all deployments.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is a pragmatic problem-solver who enjoys the variety of managing both data and the tin it sits on.
Essential Experience:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and preferably MySQL.
- Experience with High Availability environments (Clusters, Replication, Galera).
- Solid understanding of Networking & Security (Firewalls, VPN configuration).
- Hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere/vCenter).
- A full UK driving license (due to the rural office location).
"Nice to Have" Skills:
- Exposure to Neo4J or Cloud Technologies.
- Knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu) and Active Directory.
- Interest in IoT protocols (MQTT, LoRaWAN) or IP Camera systems.
