Job description

Our client is a specialist cloud and platform engineering consultancy and product organisation, supporting organisations on their journey to cloud and DevOps maturity. Working across both public and private sector environments, they help organisations establish strong platform foundations through automation, governance, and developer enablement. How you'll spend your day

As an AWS Principal Platform Engineer, you'll operate in a senior technical leadership capacity across multiple platform engineering engagements. You'll work hands-on while also shaping technical strategy, influencing standards, and guiding teams through complex cloud and DevOps challenges., * Leading the design and delivery of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud platforms

  • Working directly with customers to define and execute cloud and DevOps adoption strategies
  • Providing technical leadership across large, complex public cloud programmes
  • Shaping early-stage solution design and selecting appropriate cloud-native technologies
  • Leading and mentoring platform engineers and consultants, setting best practices and standards
  • Driving modern DevOps and platform engineering approaches across delivery teams
  • Engaging in pre-sales and bid activity, contributing technical insight and direction
  • Staying current with emerging technologies and contributing to internal and external knowledge sharing

Requirements

  • Expert-level experience designing and delivering cloud platforms in AWS (multi-cloud exposure beneficial)
  • Deep knowledge of infrastructure as code and automation (Terraform, CloudFormation, scripting)
  • Strong experience with Kubernetes and managed container platforms such as EKS
  • Advanced understanding of CI/CD, containerisation, and modern DevOps practices
  • Expertise in AWS networking design (VPCs, load balancing, VPNs, Transit Gateway)
  • Proven experience leading large, complex cloud initiatives end to end
  • Strong people leadership skills, with experience mentoring engineers and leading teams
  • Confidence working with enterprise clients in customer-facing or consulting environments
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a range of stakeholders
  • A mindset of continuous learning and contribution to wider engineering communities

Highly desirable:

  • AWS professional-level certifications (e.g. Solutions Architect Professional, Advanced Networking - Specialty)
  • Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKSS)
  • Experience contributing to pre-sales, bids, or solution shaping activities, * AWS
