Job description
As a solution architect, you will be responsible for capturing and translating business needs and requirements into robust technical designs and integration governance for smart workplace and facility systems. You will ensure consistency across hardware and software components, and guide the implementation of scalable, secure, and future-proof solutions. You will work closely with internal stakeholders ( ICT, Facility, EHS, Security) and external integrators to translate business needs into robust technical architectures.
What success looks like
90 days:
- Achieve agreement on the implementation and transition plan for a new Access Control System (ACS), including stakeholder alignment and initial requirements capture.
- Drive detailed requirements capturing for upcoming smart workplace systems (e.g., smart cameras, RTLS) and prepare documentation to support solution selection processes.
180 days:
- Access Control System infrastructure is deployed and operational; first proof-of-concept (POC) is successfully implemented and validated.
- Initiate planning for Real-Time Location System (RTLS) and Smart Camera integration.
360 days:
- Access Control System is fully implemented and handed over to operations.
- RTLS rollout is ongoing, with pilot sites selected and initial deployments underway.
- Smart Surveillance (camera) implementation is in progress, with integration milestones tracked.
- Contribute to the integration planning for EV chargers and contractor/visitor management systems.
These milestones clarify the impact and expectations for the role in the first year, and demonstrate how the Solution Architect will drive key elements of imec's smart workplace and facility systems roadmap.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in ICT, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Proven experience in solution architecture, preferably in workplace or facility domains
- Strong understanding of integration principles, security, and system lifecycle
- Hands-on mindset with the ability to validate and troubleshoot technical setups
- Experience with enterprise tooling (e.g. ServiceNow, MQTT, Kafka, Sentinel) is a plus
- Fluent in English; Dutch is an asset
