Job description
We have an exciting opportunity with our client for an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to support the ongoing development of an in-service Fire Control Radar system, with a strong focus on radar trials planning, execution support, and analysis.
This role sits at the heart of a technically challenging, safety-critical defence programme, working with real rig-based and flight trial data to ensure radar performance continues to meet demanding operational requirements.
The role can be based out of Newcastle or Edinburgh. It would require a systems engineer with SC clearance or a sole British National who would be willing to undergo SC clearance.
What You'll Be Doing
- Analysing large datasets from radar rig and flight trials to assess system performance
- Applying signal processing, image processing, and object classification techniques to extract meaningful insights
- Investigating anomalies using real trial data and raising Systems Problem Reports (SPRs) for deeper investigation
- Supporting System Verification & Validation (V&V) activities across the life cycle
- Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to support continuous enhancement of the radar system
Requirements
- Strong experience using MATLAB for analysis of large and complex datasets
- Solid full V-model life cycle experience, with particular strength on the implementation, integration, test, and V&V phases
- Background working on safety-critical systems
- Experience supporting engineering tests, trials, or experimental analysis
Desirable
- Experience with radar systems or complex sensors
- Defence or aerospace industry background
