You'll be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of ground systems for one of our key clients. Working closely with system engineers and other stakeholders, you'll help translate requirements into robust and operational software solutions, while guiding and supporting fellow software engineers along the way., This position offers a great balance between technical depth and leadership, allowing you to grow your architectural skills while contributing to meaningful, high-impact projects within a dynamic and collaborative high-tech environment.

  • Work closely with system engineers and stakeholders to translate functional and non-functional requirements (such as performance, security, availability, and compliance) into clear architectural designs and technical roadmaps.
  • Design, create, and maintain architectural documentation, including diagrams, technical specifications, decision records, and system documentation.
  • Support and mentor software engineers by sharing architectural insights, design patterns, and best practices, helping to strengthen technical capability across the team.
  • Define and apply architectural standards to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and high-performing., At S[&]T we contribute to a safer life on earth by translating space data into valuable and actionable insights. We oversee data from instruments to application, and apply our expertise within our software frameworks, information products and consultancy.

Our society relies on space and scientific instruments for climate change monitoring, navigation, defence and national security, and other crucial services we all use in our daily lives. These instruments produce an enormous quantity of complex data, and our goal is to unlock its value.

We have more than 20 years of experience working on instrument calibration, the creation of data quality monitoring tools, the development of real-time data processing frameworks, and the development of application-specific algorithms. With this, we help organisations, governments and industries to strengthen their information position and thereby improve their decision making. We focus on the following domains: Space & Science, Defence & Security, Environment & Sustainability, and High-Tech Consulting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, or a related technical field - or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in designing and architecting modular, maintainable, and scalable software, ideally with containerized applications running in the cloud.
  • Familiarity with Agile ways of working.
  • Relevant technical experience in Earth observation technologies, preferably within a military or defence-related context.
  • Experience or interest in embedded programming is a plus.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to spot opportunities to grow the team and reduce time-to-market for ISR products.
  • Strong people and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, guide, and support others.
  • Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written). Knowledge of Dutch is preferred.
