Your profile

The Opportunity

We're seeking an exceptional CTO to lead the technological evolution of Quantica's proprietary additive manufacturing platform. You'll be responsible for transforming cutting-edge hardware and materials science breakthroughs into reliable, scalable industrial products ready for global deployment.

This role demands a rare combination of R&D expertise and engineering leadership to scale our next-generation hardware and software platforms across the production industry. You'll ensure our systems are high-performing, intelligent, and primed for seamless industrial integration. Core Responsibilities

  1. Technology Vision & Innovation (R&D)
  • Strategic R&D Leadership: Define and champion Quantica's technology roadmap, guiding the R&D team to develop next-generation capabilities and translate them into high-value industrial applications
  • Application Discovery: Lead technical feasibility studies to identify and validate breakthrough materials and industrial use cases
  • Strategic Partnerships: Build and nurture relationships with leading research institutes and industrial partners to maintain our competitive edge in additive manufacturing
  1. Engineering Operations & Scaling
  • Productization Excellence: Systematically transition R&D prototypes into production-ready, modular systems designed for seamless integration into industrial manufacturing lines
  • Quality & Reliability: Establish rigorous testing protocols ensuring hardware longevity, material compatibility, and compliance with industrial uptime standards
  • Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Partner closely with the Director of Operations to optimize designs for manufacturability, cost-efficiency, and scale
  1. Multi-Disciplinary Technology Strategy
  • Systems Architecture: Define and oversee the overall system architecture, integrating fluid dynamics, mechanical systems, and electronics to strengthen NovoJet 's market leadership in high-viscosity jetting
  • Software & AI Innovation: Drive development of sophisticated software suites including print management systems and AI-driven nozzle compensation algorithms that enhance print quality and system intelligence
  1. Leadership & External Representation
  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and scale a 20-30+ person multidisciplinary engineering organization spanning mechanical, software, firmware, electronics, and materials teams (including remote team members)
  • Technical Authority: Serve as Quantica's technical spokesperson to industrial customers, partners, and investors during critical funding rounds

Requirements

  • 10+ years of deep-tech engineering experience in fields such as additive manufacturing, inkjet technology, robotics, precision electronics, or comparable high-tech domains
  • Proven leadership managing multidisciplinary teams (hardware + software) across distributed locations
  • Industrialization expertise: Track record of scaling deep-tech products from lab/prototype stage to robust, 24/7 industrial deployment

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Direct experience with industrial inkjet or similar precision dispensing technologies
  • Background in AI/ML applications for manufacturing (e.g., computer vision, predictive maintenance, quality control)

Key Competencies

  • The Technical Generalist: While deeply expert in one domain, you can critically evaluate PCB designs, software architecture, fluid dynamics, and materials science with equal facility
  • Strategic Patience: You understand hardware development cycles and can effectively manage stakeholder expectations while maintaining momentum
  • Hands-On Problem Solver: You're not afraid to roll up your sleeves and troubleshoot system failures alongside your team when needed
  • Exceptional Communicator: You articulate compelling technical visions, inspire diverse teams, and translate complex concepts for non-technical stakeholders - all while maintaining relentless focus on execution
