Job description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to develop new algorithms for multi-omics data integration. Working at the intersection of data science and neuroepigenetics, our research aims to unravel the complex mechanisms underlying brain cell function and neurodegenerative diseases. The group is committed to fostering a collaborative and innovative research environment and works with large-scale imaging and sequencing datasets.
We offer a 2-year postdoctoral position with system administration responsibilities, with the possibility of extension. The scientific component of the position focuses on the bioinformatics analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and single-cell multi-omics data in the context of neuroepigenetics. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to all aspects of research, ranging from project design and workflow development to data analysis and publication.
In addition, the position includes responsibility for the daily maintenance and user support of the institute's IT infrastructure, as well as long-term planning of servers, storage, backup solutions and high-performance computing systems for a research institute generating and analyzing large volumes of imaging and sequencing data.
Your responsibilities include:
- Development and maintenance of bioinformatics workflows for NGS data analysis
- Exploratory data analysis of large-scale genomic datasets
- Design and execution of independent research projects at the interface of data science and neuroepigenetics
- Contribution to scientific publications and presentations
- IT support for scientific and non-scientific users
- Maintenance and long-term planning of IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, backup solutions and high-performance computing
Requirements
- Strong programming skills, for example in Python and/or R
- Experience in system administration
- Experience with single-cell RNA sequencing and/or single-cell ATAC sequencing data analysis
- Experience with bulk epigenomic data, such as WGBS, RRBS, ChIP-seq or CUT&Tag
- A high degree of self-motivation, strong communication skills and professional competence
- Strong written and spoken English skills, as well as good working knowledge of German
Interested candidates are invited to submit the following application materials:
- A cover letter outlining research interests and motivation
- Transcripts of the PhD and Master's degrees
- A curriculum vitae
- A list of publications, if applicable
- Two references
