Lead Data Governance Engineer

Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of data governance policies, processes, standards, and monitoring for Canonical's data mesh solution. Develop Python-based tooling to automate data mesh operations such as data labeling, quality metrics, access management, and security best practices. Responsibilities

• Define, monitor, and enforce data governance policies.
• Design, build, and maintain tooling for automated data mesh operations.
• Deploy and operate services produced by the data governance team.
• Coach, mentor, and provide career development feedback to team members, as appropriate.

• Experience with data quality, governance, and security processes and tools.
• Proficiency in software development with Python and SQL.
• Professional, written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills.

• Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.

• Performance engineering and security experience.
