Job description

  • This is a hybrid role with a requirement to attend County Hall at least one day a week for team collaboration.
  • You will be entitled to 30 days of annual leave, in addition to bank holidays.
  • You will assume a senior role within the council's Cyber Security team. The team operates on a rota basis, covering cyber security functions within the detect, prevent and respond framework.
  • This is a full-time, permanent role of 37 hours per week, covering hours between 08:00 and 18:00., We're working to improve the lives of people in Somerset - and you'll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:
  • Incident response
  • Vulnerability management
  • Security Incident and Event Management
  • Security and Identity maintenance activities
  • Forensics and reporting

Requirements

  • Have previous experience of working within a cyber security field, with strong knowledge and skills in computer networking, operating systems and associated hardware.
  • Ideally, you will also hold relevant qualifications in cyber security and computing, such as a degree in a computing field and Microsoft certifications. You will be committed to continuous self-development and can demonstrate this journey.
  • You will be comfortable working under pressure, as part of a high-profile team delivering critical services with critical outcomes.
  • You will be analytical, intuitive, tenacious and have great problem-solving abilities.
  • You will thrive on being part of an enthusiastic team and hold yourself to high standards of accountability and best practice. You will 'walk the walk' and be a positive cyber role model.
