Job description

The Chief Security Office (CSO) is a vital part of delivering the Group's vision of putting customers at the heart of everything we do, helping Britain prosper and protecting the Group and customers from security threats. We're responsible for defining and communicating Lloyds Banking Group's security strategy and providing a range of critical Enterprise Security Services which not only operate key controls that keep the Group safe but also enable the digital transformation agenda of the wider organisation.

We're looking for an Infrastructure Engineer with a passion for learning, problem solving and creating secure, reliable and scalable infrastructure through code.

We plan some big improvements for colleague web access in 2026 and beyond, and need a motivated, team-oriented person to help us achieve our goals. We're building our CSO engineering capability and are looking for someone to help define, evolve and implement what Infrastructure and Policy as Code look like across the organisation.

Working closely with our Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll design, build, secure and maintain the platform and tooling that underpin our products and colleague-facing web services, shaping a modern, automated and scalable approach to infrastructure delivery.

You'll join an inclusive engineering community where you'll be supported by experienced colleagues and encouraged to grow your skills through hands on work, training opportunities and access to technical communities of practice.

Whether you're early in your journey or looking to deepen your security expertise, this role offers the chance to make a real impact as part of one of the UK's largest transformation programmes.

What You'll Be Doing

Engineering & Delivery

  • Support the design and implementation of softwaredefined infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) - for example Terraform.

  • Write clean, secure and welldocumented code with guidance from senior engineers, participating in code reviews and engineering ceremonies.

  • Assist in maintaining and supporting existing infrastructure resources, helping to troubleshoot and debug issues in live environments.

  • Contribute to building reusable, secure infrastructure components ("codified guardrails") that help teams move faster and more safely.

  • Support the maintenance and improvement of the web access product by implementing changes and enhancements based on business requirements.

  • Investigate incidents and issues to identify root causes and contribute to solutions that improve customer experience.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work closely senior engineers, Product Owners, and Customer Journey Managers to deliver robust solutions aligned with the product backlog and strategy.

  • Participate in rootcause analysis and incident reviews to strengthen service reliability and drive longterm improvements. Invest in your own development, staying up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and applying new learning to your work.

Live Service & Operational Excellence

  • Support monitoring, live service diagnostics and the identification of defects or performance issues. Build familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD tooling to improve the automation and stability of infrastructure workflows., Our ambition is to be the leading UK business for diversity, equity and inclusion supporting our customers, colleagues and communities and we're committed to creating an environment in which everyone can thrive, learn and develop.

Requirements

  • Awareness of secure coding principles or platform security fundamentals.

  • A foundational understanding of Infrastructure as Code, with some exposure to tools like Terraform, or similar.

  • Ability to develop scripts or small applications to automate tasks within production environments.

  • Curiosity and a growth mindset - you enjoy continuous learning and experimenting with new approaches.

  • Problemsolving ability, able to work through issues logically with guidance from senior colleagues.

  • A collaborative approach - you value different perspectives and enjoy working with others to deliver shared outcomes.

  • An interest in DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and modern automation techniques.

  • A commitment to building inclusive products and environments, respecting diverse backgrounds, experiences and viewpoints.

  • A good understanding of Agile principles and familiarity with tools such as Jira.

It would be great if you also had

  • Experience in Cyber Security and knowledge of web access management technologies (e.g., proxies), secure browsing solutions, data loss prevention, and malware protection.

  • Experience using change management tools such as ServiceNow to implement operational changes.
