Job Title GCP Cloud Engineer Contract Type Contract - Outside IR35 Duration 6-12 months Working Model Fully Remote Day Rate £350-£400/Day
Role Overview We are engaging an experienced GCP Cloud Engineer for an upcoming contract opportunity, supporting the design, build, and ongoing optimisation of cloud infrastructure within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role will be hands-on and delivery-focused, working closely with platform, DevOps, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain GCP cloud infrastructure
- Work with core GCP services, including Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, VPC, and IAM
- Build and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
- Support containerised workloads and Kubernetes-based platforms
- Implement and maintain cloud security best practices
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise cloud environments for performance and cost
- Support cloud migrations, upgrades, and platform improvements
- Collaborate with DevOps and engineering teams across delivery initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience working as a GCP Cloud Engineer
- Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform
- Solid experience with Kubernetes (GKE) and containerised workloads
- Hands-on experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools
- Strong understanding of cloud networking and security principles
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in remote teams
Desirable Experience
- CI/CD pipeline implementation and support
- Cloud security and compliance exposure
- Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud platforms
