Job description

Are you an experienced Test and Commissioning Engineer ready to step up into a progressive, senior-level role? This is an exciting opportunity to become a key technical leader within an established machine manufacturing environment, driving quality, innovation, and continuous improvement across the Test & Commissioning function.

You will take ownership of a hands-on test engineering department, influence design and manufacturing decisions, and play a major role in developing processes and standards. If you are motivated by problem-solving, and driving imporvement this role offers the progression you are looking for., As the Senior Test and Commissioning Engineer, you will:

  • Lead and oversee all test and pre-commissioning activities and team members
  • Provide high-level technical support to internal engineering teams and external customers
  • Work closely with the design department, offering guidance and feedback to improve future builds
  • Carry out FAT and pre-commissioning work to guarantee equipment quality and identify installation issues early
  • Perform hands-on testing, fault-finding, and repair of electrical and mechanical components including control panels, wiring, machine controls, gearboxes, pipework, and plumbing
  • Oversee electromechanical assembly, prototype builds, and prototype testing
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to resolve build or design issues quickly
  • Conduct and oversee functional testing to technical specifications
  • Review, improve, and maintain test documentation, procedures, and work instructions
  • Support installation teams with troubleshooting and attend customer sites when required
  • Provide clear feedback to Engineering and Management on product performance and quality
  • Carry out inspection and inspection of parts to ensure specifications are met
  • Take ownership for quality, ensuring customer expectations are fully achieved

Requirements

  • A fully qualified, multi-skilled engineer with strong electrical, mechanical, and control systems experience
  • Confident in reading, fault-finding, and programming PLCs, HMIs, and robotics
  • Detail oriented, methodical, and a proactive problem solver
  • An effective communicator who can work with colleagues at all levels and across departments
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experienced in manufacturing processes such as wiring, assembly, testing, and fault-finding
  • Holder a full driving licence (ideally clean)
  • Willing to travel to site and stay away on occasion
