Job description
A global manufacturer based in Kent is looking to recruit a Fire Testing & Certification Engineer to support the planning, execution and documentation of fire testing and certification activities across the company's product ranges. The role offers hybrid working, great benefits, and a competitive starting salary.
As a Fire Testing & Certification Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the planning and delivery of fire and smoke control tests.
- Preparing test samples, specifications and construction details.
- Coordinating with external test houses and certification bodies.
- Assisting with sampling and audits for certification schemes.
- Producing and maintaining test reports, assessments, certification documents and data sheets.
- Ensuring all documentation is accurate, compliant and up to date.
- Working with Product and Design teams to ensure products align with tested and certified configurations.
- Support reviews of product changes and their certification impact.
- Creating and updating CAD drawings for testing and certification activities.
- Supporting compliance with BS 476-22, BS 476-31.1, EN 1634-1, UL 10C and UL 1784.
Requirements

Strong understanding of fire testing and certification within the construction or doorset sector.

Knowledge of key fire and smoke standards, including BS 476, EN 1634 and UL standards.

Experience working with test houses and certification bodies (e.g., BM TRADA).

Ability to interpret technical standards, test evidence and certification scopes.

Competent in 2D and 3D CAD for testing and certification work.

Clear, structured technical writing skills.

Confident communicator with internal teams and external partners.

Methodical, process-driven approach to compliance and documentation.
