Job description

Role purpose: Lead the Data & AI function to accelerate data-driven decision-making, scalable analytics, and responsible AI adoption across ABN AMRO Verzekeringen., * Define and execute the Data & AI strategy aligned with business goals, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.

  • Own the data platform and analytics roadmap, including architecture, tooling, and operating model.
  • Deliver AI and advanced analytics use cases end-to-end, from ideation and prioritization to deployment and value realization.
  • Establish data governance, data quality standards, metadata management, and stewardship across domains.
  • Ensure responsible AI practices, model risk management, privacy, security, and compliance.
  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams (data engineering, analytics, data science, ML engineering) and manage vendors/partners.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to translate business needs into measurable data products and KPIs., * Develop and deliver the organisation-wide data strategy and AI roadmap, translating strategic priorities into measurable improvements in customer journeys, operational efficiency and financial outcomes
  • Build and lead a central Data and AI domain of approximately 28 FTE by integrating teams from Commercial & Operations, Finance and Data Delivery into one aligned structure with clear governance, priorities and performance standards
  • Oversee and further develop BI reporting and management information as an integral part of our data-driven decision-making framework
  • Lead enterprise-wide data management, covering data architecture, lifecycle and metadata management, with strong foundations in modern data-warehousing, lakehouse technologies and data virtualisation
  • Identify, prioritise and scale high-impact AI use cases, including generative AI applications such as automated claims documentation and decision support, guiding them from pilot to full operational implementation
  • Establish and safeguard data governance, data quality standards and responsible AI frameworks in close collaboration with IT, Risk, Compliance and the Data Protection Officer, ensuring regulatory compliance and ethical application
  • Act as a strategic MT sparring partner and as a representative towards our shareholders at NN Group and ABN AMRO Bank, supervisory authorities and other stakeholders, aligning interests and securing support for key Data and AI investments

Requirements

  • Proven leadership in Data & AI within financial services or insurance, including organizational change and stakeholder management.
  • Strong knowledge of data engineering, cloud data platforms, BI/analytics, and MLOps/ML lifecycle management.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks, privacy-by-design, and regulatory environments.
  • Ability to prioritize initiatives based on impact, feasibility, and risk; strong product and value-delivery mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills to align business, technology, and risk/compliance stakeholders., You believe in progress powered by technology and guided by values. Data and AI are viewed as strategic assets, and you take responsibility for leveraging them in a way that is ethical, scalable and impactful. Rather than being intimidated by change, you embrace it. You create clarity, bring people together and maintain momentum, even in a complex stakeholder environment.   • You operate at an academic level in both thinking and execution
  • At least 6 years of leadership experience in a comparable role
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering data strategies and AI roadmaps with demonstrable business impact in complex organisations
  • Experience leading and building multidisciplinary Data & AI teams, fostering a culture of ownership, performance and continuous learning
  • Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality and responsible AI with the ability to translate this into practical frameworks and informed decisions
  • The ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments with confidence and diplomatic skill, including board-level and shareholder dynamics
  • The ability to communicate complex AI and data concepts clearly in Dutch and English, and to speak and write Dutch fluently
  • You combine conceptual thinking and analytical intelligence with decisiveness and a strong results-oriented mindset
