Job description
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer in the Business Team, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of digital welfare payments - handling everything from employer benefits to complex products. You will support the end-to-end journey for both employers and employees, ensuring long-term satisfaction. You will be responsible for the technical direction, quality, and delivery of complex systems, impacting multiple services across teams that empower thousands of employers to manage their corporate welfare effectively. Here's what your day-to-day will look like:
- Drive multi-service solutions: Conduct technical analysis for medium-to-large projects impacting multiple services for the Employer domain. You'll design comprehensive, highly-available solutions considering scalability, security, and maintainability for products that define the welfare core.
- Ensure technical quality: You will implement robust testing strategies, balancing automation and manual coverage, and oversee gradual rollouts with careful monitoring to ensure that welfare distributions are always precise and reliable.
- Resolve and anticipate blockers: Proactively anticipates and resolves technical blockers, driving knowledge sharing across your organization. You'll tackle the unique challenges of B2B registration flows and high-volume benefit allocations while ensuring code quality through active review.
- Execution and ownership: Take ownership of your work from start to finish, delivering features that truly meet user needs - from the moment an employer signs up to the moment an employee spends their first welfare benefits - through seamless and efficient back-end integration.
- Mentor peers: Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, actively contributing to their skill development and ensuring high-quality engineering practices across the team.
- System maintenance and stability: Actively contribute to Satispay's mission by simplifying payments and improving accessibility through efficient back-end systems that handle the complexity of welfare regulations with ease.
- User-first engineering: Maintain a "user-first" mindset, understanding that your backend architecture directly impacts the daily lives of employers and employees. You'll build products where technical excellence translates into a frictionless journey, from initial registration to the ultimate satisfaction of the final user.
Expect challenges, collaboration, and the freedom to bring your ideas to life. Our tech stack includes (but it's not limited to) PostgreSQL, Java, Spring Boot. We rely on AWS for our infrastructure, with microservices deployed on EC2/ECS, S3 for storage, AWS Lambda for serverless functions, and Kinesis and ElasticSearch for log streaming. You'll take ownership of your work from start to finish.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Spring Boot?, We need a proven problem-solver who takes initiative, excels in cross-team collaboration, and is a technical quality champion. Does it sound like you?
- Extensive experience: You have at least 5 years of related experience in back-end software engineering, with a proven track record of working with microservices, cloud environments, and Agile methodologies.
- Programming expertise: You have deep experience working with Java and a strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS is a plus).
- Technical leadership: You have a proven ability to conduct technical analysis for large-scope projects affecting multiple systems, drive knowledge sharing, and mentor peers.
- Structured communication: You communicate in a professional, convincing, and structured manner, adapting your style to build trust with stakeholders and coordinate implementations across teams. You take pride in writing and maintaining reliable technical documentation and leading structured technical analyses with the team. Whether it's an architectural deep-dive or a cross-departmental sync, you ensure that complex technical decisions are clearly documented, easily understood, and followed through to execution.
