Infrastructure Team Lead

Salary: £82,000 + Benefits

Hybrid Working: On-site, based in Essex

About the Role

An FTSE global organisation is looking for an Infrastructure Team Lead to lead and modernise its core technology environment across on-prem and cloud platforms. This is a senior technical and leadership position, ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, guiding a team, and driving real operational improvements.

You'll oversee the performance, availability and security of critical infrastructure services, act as the senior escalation point for major incidents, and help shape future technology direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop an Infrastructure team, ensuring high performance and clear progression.
  • Own day-to-day operations across Servers, storage, virtualisation, cloud, backup/DR and monitoring.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex incidents and major problems.
  • Improve infrastructure standards, documentation, processes and operational controls.
  • Contribute to technology roadmaps and drive automation, life cycle management and continuous improvement.
  • Support hybrid cloud operations, including Azure IaaS/PaaS and identity platforms.
  • Deliver resilient designs and support DR/BCP planning and testing.
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, project teams and external suppliers.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong leadership and mentoring experience within infrastructure or platform teams.
  • Hands-on expertise in Windows Server, AD, DNS/DHCP, Group Policy, PKI, M365, Entra ID and Intune.
  • Experience with Azure cloud services (IaaS/PaaS).
  • Solid understanding of VMware/Hyper-V, SAN/NAS storage and enterprise backup tools (Veeam, Commvault).
  • Proven delivery of resilient platform designs and DR/BCP solutions.
  • Familiarity with automation tools (Terraform/Bicep, PowerShell, DSC/Ansible).
  • Excellent communication skills and a data-driven approach to problem-solving.
