Job description
Satispay was born to revolutionise everyday payments - making them simple, fair, and accessible to everyone. Now, the focus has moved even further, aiming to shape the future of money.
We're a movement empowering millions of people, driven by a shared purpose to tackle big challenges. And we're just getting started. We move quickly, think boldly, and trust each other to challenge the norm, learning and growing as we go.
You will be joining the Core Team focused on critical systems. This includes managing interactions with external banks, orchestrating payments, and providing the foundational infrastructure for Identity and Access Management (IAM). Additionally, the team is responsible for risk-related services, specifically credit risk management and fraud detection.
We move quickly, think boldly, and trust each other to challenge the norm. If you're looking to build something impactful that serves as the foundation for all our product teams, you're in the right place.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Backend Software Engineer in the Core Team, you'll play a critical role in engineering the backbone of our payment platform. You will be responsible for the technical quality and delivery of complex systems that impact multiple services and product teams across the company.
Here's what your day-to-day will look like:
- Engineer core platform domains: You will contribute to the design and evolution of our most sensitive systems - such as the Transaction Ledger, Identity & Access Management (IAM), or Payment Orchestration. You'll ensure these engines remain high-performant, scalable, and "functional" for our product teams to integrate with.
- Scale risk & financial engines: You will optimize and implement services dedicated to bank integrations, credit risk, and real-time fraud detection. You'll build the robust logic that protects our "source of truth" and secures Satispay's financial ecosystem.
- Cross-team technical leadership: You will drive technical analysis for projects that span across multiple services. You'll lead technical discussions and produce high-quality documentation (Smart Papers) to ensure that your designs are robust and clearly understood by stakeholders and other engineering pods.
- Foster engineering excellence: You will ensure technical quality by implementing rigorous testing strategies and overseeing safe rollouts. You'll proactively identify and resolve technical blockers, promoting a culture of simplicity and maintainability in the codebase.
- Mentor & develop: You will provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of operational excellence. You'll help the team adopt the best tools and methodologies to accelerate development cycles without compromising on security or reliability.
Expect challenges, collaboration, and the freedom to bring your ideas to life. Our tech stack includes (but it's not limited to) PostgreSQL, Java, Spring Boot. We rely on AWS for our infrastructure, with microservices deployed on EC2/ECS, S3 for storage, AWS Lambda for serverless functions, and Kinesis and ElasticSearch for log streaming. You'll take ownership of your work from start to finish.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Spring Framework?, We need a proven problem-solver who takes initiative, excels in cross-team collaboration, and is a technical quality champion. Does it sound like you?
- Extensive experience: You have at least 5 years of related experience in back-end software engineering. You have a proven track record of working with microservices and cloud environments (AWS is a plus) in high-paced, mission-critical contexts.
- Technical depth: You possess deep experience with Java and Spring Boot. You have a strong understanding of distributed systems and how to manage external dependencies (like banking protocols) effectively.
- Structured communication: You are able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and convincingly. You excel at coordinating implementations with other teams and building trust with various stakeholders.
- Impact mindset: You are focused on delivering software that meets evolving user needs. You are adaptable, avoid analysis paralysis, and "go the extra mile" to optimize systems beyond the initial requirements.
- Passion and language skills: You are passionate about FinTech and fluent in English.
