Senior Solutions Architect - Microsoft Modern Workplace

A UK policing organisation is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect with a focus on Microsoft Modern Workplace to provide leadership across end-user computing and collaboration services.

This is a senior, customer-side role centred on shaping strategy, assuring delivery, and providing governance across suppliers and internal teams within a complex, secure estate. Context

You will support the evolution of modern workplace capabilities, ensuring services are secure, scalable, and aligned to operational policing needs, while integrating with wider infrastructure and national programmes. Responsibilities

• Provide architectural leadership across Microsoft Modern Workplace services (M365, endpoint, identity, collaboration)
• Set direction and assure supplier designs across end-user platforms
• Provide leadership and line management to architects or technical specialists where required
• Ensure services are designed in line with security classifications and secure-by-design principles
• Work closely with infrastructure, network, and security teams to maintain cohesive architecture
• Provide senior technical input across programme delivery, including resolving complex issues
• Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across technology and the wider organisation

• Senior-level architecture experience across Microsoft Modern Workplace technologies (eg M365, Intune, Entra ID/Azure AD)
• Experience leading teams, including line or Matrix management
• Strong background in on-prem and hybrid environments
• Experience working within secure or regulated settings (ideally policing or blue light)
• Experience assuring and challenging third-party delivery
• Ability to operate effectively at programme level

Desirable

• Experience working alongside infrastructure or network transformation programmes
• Awareness of policing systems or programmes such as ESMCP
• Exposure to Azure and hybrid cloud

Additional Information

Due to the nature of the environment, candidates will be required to undergo appropriate police vetting. Prior experience within secure or sensitive environments will be advantageous.

This role would suit a well-rounded senior architect with strong Microsoft platform expertise and the ability to lead across a complex stakeholder landscape.
