Job description
Technical Product Owner - Data Governance, required by a global organisation to own the vision, roadmap, and adoption of a Data Governance product ecosystem spanning data catalogue, lineage, metadata management, data quality, and data contracts. You will need strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work across Data Stewards, Architects, Security, Compliance, and Engineering teams, alongside a solid understanding of data governance concepts and cloud-based governance platforms such as OpenMetadata, AWS DataZone, or Collibra.
Experience working in an Agile environment is essential. You will translate governance and compliance requirements into actionable technical epics and user stories, prioritise the product backlog using value- and risk-based decision making, and drive adoption through workshops, enablement sessions, and onboarding materials. You must be comfortable owning the full life cycle of governance tooling - from evaluation and selection through to integration, optimisation, and continuous improvement.
You will need working knowledge of Python and SQL, familiarity with ETL/ELT concepts, data pipeline orchestration, and an ability to interpret architecture diagrams, APIs, schemas, and data models. An understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability as they relate to data platforms is required, along with awareness of modern data storage formats, including Delta Lake, Parquet, and Iceberg, distributed compute, and streaming technologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must, as is the ability to measure and communicate adoption, quality, and usage metrics against clear success criteria.
