An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Release Train Engineer to join a leading defence and technology organisation delivering cutting-edge capability into a highly complex customer environment.
This is a newly created position within the business, supporting a major. I am looking for a high-calibre SAFe professional who can hit the ground running, bring structure to a demanding delivery landscape, and confidently operate within a sophisticated, customer-facing environment.
The Role
As Release Train Engineer, you will operate at programme level within a SAFe 6 environment, driving alignment across multiple Agile teams and ensuring coordinated delivery into a complex systems integration programme.
You will play a pivotal role in planning, synchronising and improving delivery performance across the Agile Release Train (ART), while maintaining strong engagement with internal stakeholders and a high-expectation external customer., * Lead and coordinate ART events including PI Planning, ART Syncs, demos, retrospectives and backlog refinement
- Drive cross-team collaboration, resolving inter-departmental challenges and removing impediments
- Manage upstream and downstream dependencies in partnership with Product Management
- Ensure effective programme-level coordination including timelines, milestones, cost, schedule and performance oversight
- Use data-driven insights to improve value delivery and product outcomes
- Coach Scrum Masters and team leads, resolving conflict and strengthening Agile maturity
- Act as a consultant and leader within the programme, promoting SAFe best practice tailored to organisational needs

Requirements
Key Skills: Release Train Engineer, Agile, SAFe 6, Coaching, Systems, Customer Facing, Stakeholder, * Extensive experience operating as an RTE within a SAFe delivery environment (SAFe 6 preferred)
- Proven background in large system integration programmes
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycles within complex technical environments
- Experience managing multiple stakeholder groups across complex delivery organisations
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams delivering complex solutions and foster critical thinking
- Confident conflict resolution and coaching capability
Essential Qualification
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) Certification
