Job description
We have an exciting opportunity for a .NET Software Engineer to join our team to support our large transformation programme, leveraging the latest technologies to become a data driven organisation. Your impact in the role: You will work in a team of Engineers to develop products and technology that will serve the needs of our business and customers, for example:
- Developing features and capabilities for end users, either external customers or internal employees.
- Building integrations between a mixture of in-house developed and off the shelf systems, as well as Azure.
- Building CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, improving security and implementing monitoring in Azure.
We are looking for candidates who are self-motivated, are passionate about learning, and improving code to deliver value to the business. Your responsibilities are to:
- Work within an agile engineering squad to design, develop and maintain robust and reliable solutions, to defined IT requirements in line with departmental standards and procedures
- Write clean, scalable code using .NET programming languages primarily using C#
- Investigate and propose solutions to development and design problems.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences, with strong oral, written, and documentation skills
- Shares knowledge and experience in own specialism to help others
- Conduct analysis to determine integration needs and design and plan integrations.
- Collaborate in code reviews and apply best practices to ensure high-quality outcomes, while proactively improving software performance by diagnosing and resolving critical issues
- Participate in common agile ceremonies (estimations, backlog prioritisation, show & tell, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, etc.)
- Keep up to date with and exploit opportunities to use the latest technologies
Requirements
- Experience in ASP .NET MVC (.NET Framework and .NET Core), C#, HTML/CSS, Sass, JavaScript, jQuery
- Experience with Azure e.g. Azure Functions, Logic Apps, APIs, APIM, App insights, Azure Service bus, Azure Data Factory, Storage Accounts, App insights and Log analytics
- Relational Databases (e.g. MS SQL, Azure SQL, TSQL, Stored Procedures, CTE), with query optimisation a bonus
- Knowledge of unit Testing, TDD practices using Playwright, xUnit, NUnit etc.
- Working knowledge of DevOps and CI/CD principles and practices, ideally based on AzureDevOps pipelines and/or Git
- Proven expertise in Object-Oriented Programming and SOLID principles, combined with hands-on experience in Agile/Scrum delivery and end-to-end software development using robust SDLC methodologies.
- Problem solving, analytical and debugging skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with best practices for credential management in a highly secure environment. Awareness and understanding of key DevSecOps.
