If so, we would like to hear from you. We are recruiting to our post of Head of Community Cohesion within our Families, Children & Wellbeing Directorate. We are looking for an experienced and values driven leader to take on the role of Head of Community Cohesion, with responsibility for driving the Council Plan mission to strengthen community safety and cohesion across the city. You will report into the Director of Commissioning and Communities and be responsible for our Community Safety, Prevent, Violence against Women and Girls, International migration, refugee programmes and third sector teams. This is a 12-month secondment or 12-month fixed term contract. For any questions or an informal discussion, please contact Richard Tuset, Director of Commissioning and Communities via About the role The role requires you to lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with multiple partners, managing budgets and drive complex projects. You will play a crucial role in leading on council policies and strategies to meet the Council Plan objectives. In this role, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership on community safety, cohesion and inclusion, working collaboratively across the council and with partners.

  • Lead the development and delivery of strategies to reduce crime, antisocial behaviour and fear of crime, while strengthening trust, belonging and resilience in communities.

  • Build and influence strong multiagency partnerships at a senior level, including statutory, voluntary and community sector organisations inclusively.

  • Manage large and complex budgets, ensuring strong governance, accountability and value for money.

  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary team in a political environment, navigating complexity with confidence and clarity.

  • Embed a strong equality and inclusion focus across all aspects of the role, ensuring that policy and practice respond to diverse community needs and lived experience., We are looking for a senior leader who can drive the Council to:

Requirements

  • A degree or equivalent professional experience of leading and managing Community Cohesion or Community Safety services in line with relevant legislation and policy.

  • Proven experience of strategic leadership, partnership working and influencing at senior levels.

  • A track record of managing complexity, resources and people effectively, with strong attention to detail.

Benefits & conditions

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only. Please note that this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and is subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check. We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
