Job description

Overtime & Call-Outs: Optional, paid at time and a half. Call-out rota with standby payment.About the Role What's expected:

  • Lead and manage a team of 4 engineers (electricians and handymen), including scheduling, task allocation, performance management, appraisals, return-to-work interviews, and sickness management.
  • Step in "on the tools" occasionally to cover absences or support the team.
  • Ensure all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Oversee subcontractors and contractors, ensuring permits are in place, works comply with safety standards, and processes are followed correctly.
  • Maintain compliance across all works, including building services operations.
  • Support high-voltage operations once certified as HVAP (training and additional pay provided if not already certified).
  • Organise engineers' daily activities, call-out rota, and monitor performance standards.
  • Attend client meetings and liaise with senior management as needed.

Requirements

  • Vocational qualification in electrical or mechanical engineering (electrical preferred).
  • Previous experience in technical or engineering roles (electrical/mechanical).
  • Experience managing or supervising engineers/maintenance staff.
  • Familiarity with both PPM and reactive maintenance processes.
  • Experience overseeing subcontractors, including permit-to-work and compliance checks.
  • Strong people management skills (sickness management, appraisals, return-to-work interviews).
  • Good organisational skills to plan engineers' daily activities and call-out rota.
  • Strong understanding of building services operations and ability to manage compliance across all works.
