Senior Systems Engineer

We're looking for a Senior Combat Systems Engineer to lead technical development of analysis tooling and contribute to concept development for next-generation maritime capability.

This is senior-level front-end engineering work focusing on systems integration analysis, latency and bandwidth modelling, and platform concept development. You'll be leading the development of analytical tooling and processes, coordinating team contributions, and working across multi-disciplinary teams on studies that directly inform future capability decisions.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Lead development of analysis process and tooling for systems integration assessment
• Develop methods for calculating bandwidth and time requirements
• Examine processing requirements and impact of different data standards
• Coordinate team contributions and lead report authoring
• Work with systems integration specialists across the team
• Support platform concept development for autonomous and hybrid crewed/uncrewed systems
• Contribute to concept card development and collaborative exercises
• Support illustrative design development for selected concepts
• Liaise with stakeholders to refine requirements
• Examine autonomy, automation, and AI integration benefits
• Provide technical oversight to multi-disciplinary engineering team
• Check technical reports and present findings to stakeholders
• Contribute to design reviews and collaborative meetings
• Support innovation and technology watch activities

You'll be working on capability integration for complex maritime systems - how systems work together, what the integration architecture looks like, where capability gaps exist. Senior-level engineering with direct influence on future capability decisions.

Do you have experience in Systems engineering?, * SC Clearance - current and transferable

• Engineering degree - in demonstrably relatable engineering discipline, with evidence of career utilization
• Senior Systems Engineer - Chartered Engineer with 5+ years post-chartership OR 9+ years relevant experience with demonstrable CPD at Chartership standard
• 9+ years Combat Systems experience - in Combat Systems, Effectors, Sensors, CMS, or directly related areas
• Recent warship CS design - within last 5 years in Naval Combat System Design, demonstrating diverse approaches
• Requirements translation - translating customer requirements into architectural design solutions, Defence Standards exploitation
• Recent experience - within last 5 years with focus on hybrid or disaggregated sense and effect systems
• Systems integration understanding - demonstrable understanding of systems latency, bandwidth, SWaP, time budget.
• Location - able to work Bristol 3 days per week (including Tuesday, Wednesday AND Thursday) from April 2026
