Job description

As Senior Cost Manager you will be the senior Finance representative within IT and Transformation leadership teams, challenging plans, shaping spend profiles and presenting an evidence-based cost narrative for core IT and the cloud native Transformation programme., * Lead cash accounting, capitalisation, depreciation / amortisation and maintain accuracy of total cost of ownership across Transformation and Group Technology, partnering closely with Group Financial Control.

  • Lead the annual budget and rolling forecast processes; build driver-based models, identify risks and cost-saving opportunities early.
  • Implement cloud cost governance and support optimisation initiatives.
  • Produce and present monthly actuals vs budget / forecast with clarity of root-cause variance analysis and corrective actions.
  • Prepare material for Senior Leadership Team, Programme SteerCo and Group ExCo.
  • Maintain a concise "cost narrative" explaining the composition and evolution of the cost base.
  • Simplify cost models, shorten close / reporting timelines, automate reconciliations, and raise insight-quality analysis.

Requirements

  • Fully qualified accountant with experience influencing executive stakeholders.
  • Track record in cost and / or management accounting within Financial Services, owning complex technology cost centres or major programmes.
  • Hands-on IT cost domain knowledge (infrastructure, software, services, projects, cloud).
  • Demonstrable project accounting experience (capex / opex / cash).
  • Advanced financial modelling in Excel (including Power Query) and experience with ERP / General ledger and forecasting tools to build clean, auditable driver-based models.
  • Experience and knowledge of good financial control hygiene (reconciliations, documentation, segregation of duties).
  • Strong analysis and clear communication skills - confident in presenting information and data in a digestible way.

  • Base salary £72,000 - £85,000.
