Job description

We're looking for an experienced Lead Full Stack Developer to lead technical delivery, combining hands-on development with leadership to build, scale, and support high-quality digital products across a range of client projects. About the Role

As Lead Full Stack Developer, you'll play a key role in delivering websites and custom web applications for a wide range of clients and sectors. You'll work closely with designers, project managers, and developers to define technical approaches, guide implementation, and ensure work is delivered to a consistently high standard.

You'll take shared ownership of our cloud hosting environment, contributing to decisions around deployment, performance, security, and reliability. You'll be comfortable working close to infrastructure and helping shape how our platforms are built, deployed, monitored, and supported in production. What You'll Do

  • Lead and contribute to the development of modern PHP-based web applications
  • Guide technical architecture decisions, balancing performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Oversee front-end development using modern JavaScript frameworks
  • Work within and help evolve our cloud hosting environment, supporting deployment, scaling, and reliability
  • Contribute to CI/CD workflows, environment configuration, and release processes
  • Promote best practice around security, monitoring, backups, and incident response
  • Collaborate with designers and project managers to scope work, estimate accurately, and plan delivery
  • Review code and mentor developers, helping raise quality and confidence across the team
  • Integrate third-party services and APIs
  • Contribute to internal documentation, standards, and continuous improvement

Requirements

You're a confident senior developer who enjoys owning solutions end to end, from code through to production. You're comfortable discussing infrastructure, deployments, and performance, and you understand how development decisions impact reliability and scalability in real-world environments.

You take a pragmatic approach to DevOps, focusing on automation, resilience, and clear processes rather than unnecessary complexity. Must-Have Skills

  • Strong professional experience building PHP-based web applications
  • Experience working with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Vue, React, or similar)
  • Experience integrating RESTful APIs and third-party services
  • Solid understanding of web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and browser behaviour
  • Experience designing and working with relational databases
  • Familiarity with Linux-based cloud environments and common web server setups
  • Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
  • Strong understanding of version control, code reviews, and collaborative delivery
  • Strong communication, organisation, and time-management skills

Nice to Have

  • Experience with popular CMS platforms or frameworks
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code or configuration management tools
  • Understanding of caching, performance optimisation, and scalability strategies
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Oracle Cloud, DigitalOcean, or similar)
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, or alerting tools
  • Experience mentoring developers or leading technical delivery on projects

Benefits & conditions

  • A genuine lead role with influence across development and delivery
  • Direct involvement in shaping how our platforms are built and run
  • A collaborative, design-led team that values quality, ownership, and trust
  • A varied project portfolio across multiple sectors
  • Hybrid working with a base in Bangor
  • A supportive environment that encourages learning, experimentation, and improvement

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • 31 days' annual leave including statutory holidays
  • Company pension scheme
  • Private health insurance
  • Regular appraisals and personalised development plans
  • Training opportunities and access to leading industry resources
  • Flexible working options and a healthy work/life balance
  • Friendly, collaborative culture with regular team-building events
  • Hybrid working from our HQ in Bangor and home
