Job description

Type of opportunity - Casual (hours will be offered on an 'ad-hoc' basis in accordance with the University's resource requirements), A unique opportunity has arisen to appoint four Service Desk Officers who will act as the first point of contact for York St John University's Innovation and Technology Services (ITS) department.

The successful candidates will support students and staff by issuing and receiving IT and AV equipment through the Connect2 MediaLoans service, as well as assisting new University staff with IT induction. This will include setting up staff IT accounts, guidance on multi-factor authentication, Technology Enhanced Learning materials and basic principles of cyber security awareness.

This role is designed to fit around your University studies and provides an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills in customer service and information technology. These skills will be valuable for a wide range of future career paths.

This role is ideal for students of York St John who may not be from a technical background, but are seeking practical experience in IT, Customer Support and Equipment Management.

The role will also involve manual handling, including the lifting and movement of IT and AV equipment.

Requirements

Previous experience in customer-facing or technical roles is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

Benefits & conditions

Hourly rate of pay - £13.12 per hour (exclusive of holiday pay). Holiday pay is accrued at 12.07% in addition to the hourly rate
