Job description

The Energy Systems Analytics group is seeking an engineer (R2) in the field of energy systems management and energy analysis with specific expertise in battery systems. This includes battery characterization, health assessment, management and integration. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research related to assessment and management of energy storage systems and their integration with the electric grid and scalability to support the just energy transition. As part of the Energy Systems Integration group, the applicant will work closely with a diverse team of highly- qualified researchers., * Lead and conduct research in the field of energy systems modeling, optimization, and energy management.

Design and implement battery models for assessing technical and economic impacts and opportunities with stationary and mobile storage platforms and how they integrate with renewable energy systems, energy communities and the smart grid.
Collaborate with other researchers and stakeholders to develop and validate models and algorithms.
Write impactful research papers and reports, and present research findings at conferences and workshops.
Collaborate with national and international stakeholders to prepare competitive project proposals.

Technoeconomic analysis; The exam will include questions on the topics described. The content and complexity will be adapted to the requested profile.

Scoring Criteria for the Competitive Phase (maximum 40 points):

The evaluation will be carried out according to the criteria established below:

Education (up to a maximum of 12.5 points):
Academic degrees related to the position announced: 7,5 points.
Continuing and/or complementary training related to the subject or field of the position announced and duly justified: 2,5 points.
Languages: 2,5 points.
Career and Professional Experience (up to a maximum of 20 points):
Participation in projects: 4.5 points
Project generation capacity for categories from R2 onwards: 4.5 points
Scientific publications: 4.5 points
Patents: 2 points
Participation in specialized events (conferences, seminars, congresses, teaching courses, etc.): 4.5 points
Professional Experience Public Sector (up to a maximum of 7.5 points):
Services rendered in the same or similar professional category as the position announced

at IREC: 0.1388 points per full month, up to a maximum of 5 points.

Services rendered in other public sector entities or research centers or universities, in a professional category equal or similar to that of the position announced: 0.0416 points per full month, up to a maximum of 2.5 points.

Requirements

Master Degree or equivalent

Research Field Computer science

Education Level Master Degree or equivalent, * Candidates should have a Masters degree in Operations Research, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

Experience with energy systems modelling, optimization, analysis and integration and related fields
Experience with testing energy storage systems, battery characterization and health management
Understanding of battery applications and use profiles
Knowledge of programming, simulation and optimization software capabilities
Strong communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
Self-motivated and able to work independently
