It is an exciting time to work at the University of Greater Manchester (UGM), an institution committed to its 'Teaching Intensive, Research Informed, Assessment Enabled' learning vision.

This pivotal role sits within the Off Campus Division, the strategic unit responsible for UGM's extensive collaborative provision partnerships.

Your mission:

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically competent Data and Reporting Manager to join us at this critical time. You will drive impactful change by developing and delivering a sectorleading data function. Your core mission is to create data solutions that provide high-quality, real-time insights for governance and planning. This function is essential for mitigating major sector risks, such as detecting financial anomalies indicative of SLC fraud and ensuring UGM meets its compliance requirements for Governance Oversight.

Key Responsibilities: Turning Data into Actionable Intelligence

You will be the data authority for the Division, focusing on accuracy, consistency, and strategic insight:

  • Advanced Data Solution Design: Utilising your expertise in SQL, Power BI, and data science tools such as Python to design, set up, and deliver complex student and financial reports.
  • Strategic Planning & Forecasting: Leading on student number planning and forecasting, creating financial and analytical tools to monitor performance against demand and external influences.
  • Data Integrity & Governance: Maintaining a 'single source of truth' for all data, implementing quality control and peer-review measures to ensure all BI and data science deliverables are accurate, actionable, and meet business requirements.
  • Compliance & Training: Developing and updating data management SOPs in compliance with GDPR and institutional regulations. You will support the team by developing and delivering collaborative provision-specific data management training, including presenting at site initiation visits.
  • System Leadership: Serving as the primary point of contact for colleagues on all University data systems (e.g., SITS), and contributing to the testing and validation of new or upgraded databases.
