Job description
We're looking for a Network Engineer to join our delivery team and help deploy STATSports Live Data infrastructure across stadiums, training grounds, and indoor and outdoor facilities.
This is a hands-on, field-based role where you'll plan, install, test, and commission complex networked systems in real-world sporting environments. You'll work directly with customers and internal teams, taking ownership of projects from site survey through to handover and sign-off.
If you're proactive, comfortable travelling and working on-site, and enjoy seeing technically complex systems come to life in iconic venues, this role will suit you.
What you'll be doing:
- Managing, designing, installing, testing, and commissioning live data infrastructure across training grounds, indoor facilities, and stadiums
- Planning projects from initial site survey through to final handover
- Communicating directly with the clients' Network and Facilities Managers
- Carrying out on-site and remote site surveys to assess technical and logistical requirements
- Producing system specifications and proposal documentation based on customer needs
- Preparing hardware, including physical assembly and pre-installation testing
- Creating risk assessments, method statements, site schedules, and coordinating access, permits, and match-day constraints
- Supervising on-site installations, guiding customer subcontractors and internal partners
- Designing and documenting network layouts for beacon and live data systems, including PoE switching, VLANs, addressing plans, patch panels, and cabinet layouts
- Installing and validating GNSS antenna systems, including placement planning, cable routing, earthing, surge protection, and signal verification
- Owning the mechanical scope of installations, including brackets, mounts, poles, fixings, environmental sealing, cable management, and safe routing
- Creating and maintaining project documentation, including network diagrams, cable schedules, port maps, and as-built drawings
- Producing installation reports with test results, photos, and system evidence
- Testing and qualifying each installation against agreed acceptance criteria
- Leading or supporting customer test activities and driving close-out and sign-off
- Troubleshooting field issues quickly using structured isolation and evidence-based escalation
- Working closely with Account Managers, Sales, Marketing, and Product Installation teams to align scope, timelines, and customer expectations
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have experience in VPN?, You'll likely enjoy this role if you:
- Have a degree, apprenticeship, or technical qualification in networking, electrical, telecoms, or a related field
- Are comfortable designing and working with IP networks, switches, routers, VLANs, DHCP, and PoE systems
- Have hands-on experience with Ethernet cabling standards, terminations, and testing
- Understand wireless technologies such as WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ultra-Wideband at a practical level
- Can produce and interpret technical documentation, including network diagrams, cable schedules, and site mark-ups
- Are confident working on-site with tools, test equipment, and PPE
- Can manage your own tasks, meet deadlines, and drive projects through to completion
- Communicate clearly with customers and internal teams
- Are comfortable working in stadium environments, including out-of-hours work when required
- Hold a full driving licence, a passport, and are willing to travel
Nice to have (but not essential):
Experience with stadium or large-venue deployments, fibre terminations and testing, network security controls, structured cabling standards, VPN setup, basic CAD for layouts, earthing and lightning protection concepts, or customer acceptance testing is a bonus, but not required.
