Job description
The IT Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department and ensure the efficient delivery of IT services within the organisation. This position will manage a Support Engineer, and will support various business functions, collaborate closely with the Head of IT to implement IT strategies, improve IT infrastructure, and drive innovation., * Lead and mentor the IT team, ensuring high performance and professional development.
- Manage IT staff workloads, schedules, and resource allocation.
- Ensure team members adhere to IT policies, standards, and best practices.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and end-user devices.
- Ensure the organizations IT systems are secure, reliable, and meet the needs of the business.
- Coordinate system upgrades, migrations, and improvements with minimal disruption to business operations.
- Ensure the provision of timely and effective IT support for employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues through the effective use of a Support Desk system.
- Handle escalated support requests (second line), ensuring issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
- Assist the Head of IT in implementing and enforcing cybersecurity policies and procedures.
- Monitor network security, identify vulnerabilities, and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, Cyber Essentials Plus).
- Act on any cyber breach in accordance with pre agreed protocols.
- Assist in managing the IT departments budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Liaise with external vendors and service providers for hardware, software, and other IT services.
- Evaluate and negotiate contracts, adhering to public sector procurement regulations, and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
- Lead or contribute to IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the required standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to understand business needs and deliver IT solutions that support those needs.
- Report on project progress, risks, and outcomes to the Head of IT and senior management.
- Prepare regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and support metrics.
- Maintain accurate records of IT assets, configurations, and changes to systems.
- Work with the Head of IT to develop and implement IT strategies that align with business goals.
- Stay up to date with emerging technologies and IT trends, recommending innovative solutions that improve organizational efficiency.

Requirements
Do you have experience in Presentation skills?, * Degree or related qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience in managing IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and cloud-based solutions.
- Proven track record in team leadership, project management, and vendor relations.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Technical
- Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, hardware, and software IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA, ITIL, Cisco, Microsoft) are highly desirable.
- Experience with IT security, data protection, and compliance standards.
- Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in IT management software and tools (e.g., ticketing systems, network monitoring tools)., * Making Effective Decisions
