Job description

In this role, you'll enable customers to receive money from all over the world - quickly, easily and with absolute confidence. It might be a new business getting paid by their first customer, friends paying each other back after a meal out, or larger companies regularly receiving millions of pounds, yen or dollars.

Those payments could be made through a payment link or invoice, to a customer's account details, or straight from one Wise account to another.

But every single payment is important - no matter what size or how it's made. So, you'll invest time deeply understanding our customers and their needs, designing and delivering experiences that make these transactions clear, engaging and effortless.

Here's how you'll contribute:

  • Get to know our customers - from micro business owners starting to expand into new markets, to larger businesses with many different roles, building deep empathy for their diverse needs and the journey from getting paid perfectly the first time to using us as their main account.
  • You'll help to drive the design strategy and direction within the receive squad, shaping current and future work towards our north star while personally leading critical design initiatives.
  • You'll use the full range of Product Design skills to discover, design and deliver simple, beautifully-crafted experiences that customers love, while managing and growing a small team of designers.
  • You'll set a high bar for design excellence, producing high-quality work no matter how big or small the task may be, and elevating the craft of your team to deliver cohesive experiences.
  • You'll collaborate across multiple teams and solve complex problems with cross-functional partners, balancing hands-on design execution with strategic leadership.
  • You'll actively foster a healthy design team culture, shaping our collaborative practices and mentoring budding designers while taking responsibility for team performance and business outcomes.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Ship work you're proud of that directly improves our customers lives
  • Elevate product quality. You define what 'good' looks like for Receive experiences, and you help your team deliver experiences that convert skeptical users into loyal customers
  • Own your impact. You decide with product teams what opportunities to work on, and help define their success metrics
  • Be part of a positive change in the world. We're fixing a broken, greedy system, and putting people and businesses in control of their money

Requirements

  • You've got a portfolio of well-crafted, impactful work that solves real problems for real people, with experience leading teams and personally delivering exceptional design work.
  • You have strong visual design and interaction design skills, with a passion for high quality fit and finish. You've worked with design systems to produce beautiful and functional design that scales, and experience with motion design is a significant plus.
  • You practice evidence-based design, and can articulate your decisions clearly and credibly while guiding others to do the same.
  • You're comfortable balancing hands-on design execution with team leadership, taking responsibility for both your own craft and your team's growth and performance.
  • You're curious about and have experience with generative AI prototyping tools, and see the potential for AI to enhance design processes and user experiences.

Heads up, this probably isn't for you if:

  • Your experience is mostly in marketing, advertising, or social media - and you have no hands-on experience of product design or UX.
  • You're not comfortable navigating complexity and working in a fast-paced environment
