Job description

In the Satellite Systems Engineering department we see the space system holistically as a spacecraft or a system including spacecrafts. We provide an interdisciplinary approach and means to enable the realisation of successful space systems. Going from mission analysis to early operations, looking at system performances and security aspects, planning and defining technically the design, verification, qualification and operation of the space system. With about 80 individuals from 14 nationalities in the department we welcome you to join us. In this role you will be the driving force ensuring that all system requirements of a spacecraft project are met and compliant. You will be the interface between customer, subcontractors and OHB engineers of several disciplines coordinating the following activities and offering technical guidance. Overall space system means space plus ground plus launch segments., * Perform analyses of space segment or overall space system functional and interface requirements

  • Coordinate overall space system validation and verification on system level
  • Internal customer for spacecraft data bases and simulators
  • Ensure compliance to the technical requirements

Work in collaboration with Architects and Subsystem engineers

  • Technical system budgets (electrical power, propellant, telemetry, command, pointing, mass properties)
  • Define the overall space system configuration and manage the internal and external interfaces (e.g. launcher, ground, user interfaces)
  • Flow down of the mission requirements to subsystem level specifications
  • Define Verification plans
  • Support the generation of AIT plans and operation plans
  • Supervise preparation of overall space system and spacecraft tests and review of test results
  • Define Test Specifications for overall space system and spacecraft Tests
  • Responsible for maintenance of spacecraft data bases
  • Preparation for launch and flight phases, preparation of launcher interfaces
  • Contribute to the project risk management for risks of technical nature

Requirements

  • Degree in engineering, physics or equivalent
  • Professional experience in satellite projects, preferably in phases B/C/D
  • Good conceptual and problem-solving skills
  • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills
  • High motivation, pro-active working approach and strong sense of responsibility
  • Team-minded and ideally accustomed to work in internationally composed teamFluency in both spoken and written English, German language skills are highly desirable
