Job description

  • Identifying opportunities to improve the service-led architecture of our core platform, improving scalability and resilience.
  • Owning and prioritising the platform product roadmap, developing and refining backlogs, and ensuring alignment with customer and business value.
  • Evaluating and managing all platform change requests and developing business cases for platform initiatives to support prioritisation decisions and demonstrate ROI.
  • Defining KPIs and success metrics for these roadmap items to measure impact and value delivery.
  • Acting as the key point of contact for platform stakeholders, managing stakeholder expectations and updates, and facilitating monthly roadmap review meetings with senior leadership teams.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships across the business and collaborating with teams in Customer Service, Investments and Operations to develop innovative automations to improve customer experience and reduce operational toil.
  • Creating technical specifications, as-is and to-be process maps, and UML diagrams to define solutions for complex platform challenges.
  • Breaking down large-scale platform changes into small, testable increments, balancing scope and trade-offs to maintain delivery momentum.
  • Incorporating AI tools into processes to improve efficiency, decision-making, and overall product outcomes.
  • Managing JIRA administration including epic & story creation, task breakdown, sprint planning, and backlog refinement, and JIRA timeline.
  • Leading 3 amigos, refinement, estimation and planning sessions to ensure the team has tasks to work on that are well-defined, estimated, and ready for development, aiming to refine 3 sprints ahead.
  • Organizing and facilitating quarterly in-person planning days with the squad to align on priorities and objectives.
  • Leveraging data to assess platform performance and identify areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar platform development role as a product or platform owner or as a senior technical business analyst.
  • An organised and detail-oriented mindset, with experience of managing the delivery of complex workstreams and identifying and managing dependencies across multiple teams and systems.
  • Experience with microservices architecture, API design, and system-to-system integrations including API specifications and testing.
  • Experience creating technical specifications, as-is and to-be process maps, and UML diagrams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to document and explain complex requirements at varying levels of technical detail - from high-level business context for non-technical stakeholders to detailed technical specifications for development teams.
  • Proficiency with SQL and database design principles.
  • Experience managing user stories, epics, and tasks in an Agile/Scrum environment using JIRA.
  • Ability to break down complex technical requirements into detailed, testable increments.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience presenting to senior leadership and ability to produce visual materials such as slide decks, diagrams and timelines for stakeholder meetings.
  • Experience developing business cases and defining KPIs to measure success.
  • Detailed understanding of how financial products and the systems that support them work.
  • Experience in regulated industries, ideally financial services.
  • Strong facilitation skills for refinement sessions, planning meetings, and workshops
  • Experience with third-party integrations and vendor collaboration.
  • Proficiency with modern product tools (e.g., JIRA, Miro, Confluence, Visio).

What Else We Value:

  • Enthusiasm for running workshops to solve problems, map process flows, or optimise processes.
  • Knowledge of investment operations processes including managing payment flows for deposits and withdrawals, maintaining ledgers, trading, settlement, asset custody, reconciliations and CASS compliance.
  • Ability to identify and leverage AI-driven tools to optimise workflows and enhance decision-making.
  • Understanding of lifecycle events for stocks and shares products (ISA, JISA, SIPP, GIA)
  • Analytical skills to identify improvement opportunities through data.
  • Experience using pseudo-code to support solution definition and refinement.
  • Experience in a start-up environment.
