Principal Automation Software Development Engineer in Test

As Principal Automation Software Development Engineer in Test, you'll take a lead role in shaping our test automation strategy, designing scalable solutions that ensure our next-generation monitoring platform is safe, reliable, and built to the highest standards. You'll work closely with engineering teams across disciplines, mentor fellow developers, and contribute directly to products that impact patient care around the world.

What you'll be doing:

  • Defining and developing robust automation frameworks tailored to complex, networked embedded systems
  • Translating software and system requirements into smart, scalable testing strategies
  • Collaborating across hardware, software, systems, and verification teams to drive quality from the ground up
  • Owning the automation backlog-setting priorities and ensuring timely, high-quality delivery

Requirements

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years in software development, with at least 4 in test automation leadership
  • Expertise in Python (or similar), Object-Oriented Design, and automated testing methodologies
  • Experience with tools like Squish or Selenium, and working within CI/CD environments
  • Familiarity with Agile development and regulatory standards for high-reliability systems

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with embedded Linux, Qt/QML, or containerised systems
  • Background in regulated industries such as medical devices, aerospace, or finance
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, PowerShell)
  • Experience working effectively with international, cross-functional teams
