Job description

We are seeking an experienced Software Security Engineer to play a critical role in protecting advanced, safety-critical systems throughout their full development lifecycle. This position sits within a multidisciplinary engineering environment where security is fundamental to product integrity. You will act as a trusted technical authority, working closely with software, systems and hardware teams to ensure robust security architecture, secure coding practices and effective risk management are embedded from concept through to in-service support. The Ideal Profile You are a software engineer first, with a deep interest and specialism in security. You are comfortable challenging design decisions where necessary and can balance risk, performance and operational constraints. You enjoy solving technically complex problems and remain curious about emerging technologies and evolving security threats., + Lead and influence security design decisions across complex software products

  • Provide technical guidance on secure architecture, design patterns, and coding standards
  • Conduct threat modelling, vulnerability assessments and security risk analyses
  • Support the selection and evaluation of secure technologies, frameworks and tools
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate security into development lifecycles
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of secure development processes and methodologies
  • Maintain clear documentation of security decisions, controls and risk mitigation strategies

Requirements

  • Proven experience developing complex software systems within regulated or safety-critical industries such as defence, aerospace, automotive or telecommunications
  • Strong understanding of secure development principles and industry best practice
  • Experience applying threat modelling and secure design techniques
  • Confidence reviewing architecture and influencing engineering decisions
  • Ability to communicate complex security concepts to multidisciplinary teams
  • Degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience with embedded software or firmware development would be advantageous but is not essential
  • British or Dual national who will be suitable to go through DV security clearance
