Job description

We're supporting a major aviation systems provider at Heathrow who are looking to appoint an experienced Controls Support Engineer to join their specialist controls team. Working within a live baggage handling environment, you'll take ownership of investigating and resolving complex low-level control faults, analysing data, and driving optimisation across critical systems. This role requires someone confident working across both low-level controls and the wider electro-mechanical and high-level interfaces. Airport experience is highly desirable., + Lead complex and critical control-related incidents

  • Interface directly with Duty Managers and high-level teams during P1/P2 events
  • Fault-find communication issues between HLC and LLC components
  • Oversee 2nd/3rd line support for integrated technologies
  • Act as the system expert for specialist OEM controls
  • Maintain and update specialist OEM PLC and Safety PLC systems
  • Drive incident resolution within agreed SLAs
  • Provide accurate technical handovers between shifts
  • Support and maintain software repositories and version control systems This role suits someone detail-oriented, technically inquisitive, precise and confident within their area of expertise. Strong communication skills and the ability to build customer relationships are essential.

Requirements

  • HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical / Controls Engineering
  • Strong PLC knowledge essential (OEM experience beneficial)
  • Experience with software version control
  • Knowledge of fieldbus and drive technologies
  • Proven fault-finding and problem-solving experience
  • Airport or material handling systems experience preferred
  • Heathrow baggage system knowledge advantageous
