Job description
The Fire & Security Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering fire and security installation projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality and compliance standards. This role will manage multiple projects simultaneously, acting as the key interface between clients, engineers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders., * Manage end-to-end delivery of fire and security projects (design, installation, commissioning, handover, and aftercare).
- Plan and coordinate project resources, including engineers, subcontractors, and materials.
- Produce and maintain project programmes, method statements, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all works comply with relevant standards, codes of practice, and legislation (e.g. BS 5839, BS 5266, BS EN 50132, NSI / BAFE, Health & Safety regulations).
- Carry out site surveys, attend pre-start and progress meetings, and provide technical input where required.
- Manage project finances: budgets, cost tracking, valuations, variations, and forecasts.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, drawings, and O&M manuals.
- Maintain strong communication with clients, providing regular progress updates and managing expectations.
- Oversee commissioning, testing, and system handover, ensuring all documentation and training is completed.
- Manage quality, performance, and compliance of subcontractors and in-house engineers.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, escalating where necessary.
- Support bid and tender activities with project programmes, methodology, and technical support as required.
Systems & Technologies (as applicable)
Experience with some or all of the following is desirable (tailor to your business):
- Fire alarm systems (e.g. addressable and conventional panels, detection, voice alarm).
- Emergency lighting systems.
- Intruder alarms, access control, CCTV, and integrated security systems.
- Networked and IP-based security solutions.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving Licence license?, Do you have a valid Construction Skills Certification Scheme Card, Construction Skills Certification Scheme certification?, Do you have experience in Time management?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Proven experience managing fire and/or electronic security projects, ideally with an installer or systems integrator.
- Strong understanding of relevant standards and regulations (e.g. BS 5839, BS 5266, BS EN 50131/50132, BAFE, NSI).
- Demonstrable track record of delivering multiple projects on time and within budget.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing project financials.
- Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Competent with project management and MS Office tools (e.g. Excel, MS Project or similar).
- Full UK driving licence (if applicable)., * Industry-related qualification desirable (e.g. electrical, fire, or security engineering NVQ/HNC/HND or equivalent).
- Relevant manufacturer training on fire and/or security systems is an advantage.
- Health & Safety qualifications (e.g. CSCS, SSSTS/SMSTS, IOSH) desirable.
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. FIA, Security Institute) is a plus but not essential.
