Systems Manager

We are seeking an experienced Systems Manager to manage, implement, and maintain our company-wide IT systems and infrastructure. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring the robustness, security, and reliability of our existing systems, networks, and backup solutions, while also planning future infrastructure requirements in collaboration with our web software development team. You will work independently while complementing an existing Junior IT Support Engineer, taking ownership of identifying weaknesses, implementing improvements, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations across the business., * Take full ownership of all company systems, including hardware, software, networks, telephony, and CCTV.

• Manage disaster recovery and business continuity, developing, testing, and invoking plans to ensure systems and data availability.
• Ensure all on-site and off-site backups are in place, valid, and regularly tested.
• Develop, maintain, and review IT policies and procedures in line with ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus.
• Provide technical support, guidance, and training to employees across the business.
• Mentor and support the Junior IT Support Engineer, sharing knowledge and best practices.
• Maintain an accurate IT asset and inventory register, ensuring spare equipment is ready for deployment.
• Work closely with an established external IT support partner for escalation, specialist support, and project delivery.
• Participate in planned out-of-hours maintenance (e.g. patching).
• Provide occasional out-of-hours support in the event of critical system incidents.

• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Hyper-V environments running on HP ProLiant servers, including VM backups.
• Strong experience managing SQL Server.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Office, Exchange, and SharePoint.
• Experience with Sage applications and VPN solutions for remote users.
• Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a busy environment.
• A proactive, can-do attitude with excellent problem-solving skills., * Over 3 years experience in a Systems Manager (or similar senior IT infrastructure) role.
• Holds a Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication skills, able to engage with all levels of the business and varying technical abilities.
• Demonstrates a genuine passion for IT systems and continuous improvement.
• Driven to make a positive impact and modernise systems where needed.
