Job description

We are seeking a motivated and creative Data Analyst to join our Strategy and Insights Team. Our Statutory Student Reporting Team is responsible for analysing the full student lifecycle and University performance - from recruitment and progression to attainment, satisfaction, and rankings. This provides insight that helps leaders deliver an outstanding student experience at Nottingham and enables the University to achieve its strategic priorities.

Working with colleagues across academic and professional services, you will produce analysis and insight from complex data, and help to develop performance reporting, supporting strategic initiatives that strengthen a data-informed culture across the University. This role will have a particular focus on reporting aligned to the Access and Participation Plan.

You will be highly proficient at exploring data to answer questions and solve problems, conduct rigorous analysis, and create clear, engaging visualisations that support decision-making. You will take a creative approach to complex data challenges and be comfortable learning and mastering new technologies.

As a Data Analyst you will:

  • Analyse internal and external datasets to inform operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Develop reports, dashboards and performance updates aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Support internal KPIs and external benchmarking activities.
  • Interpret and present complex data clearly for non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain high standards of data accuracy, consistency and accessibility.
  • Contribute to insight projects and provide analytical support to senior colleagues.
  • Maintain knowledge of analytical tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, Snowflake or similar technologies, supporting continuous improvement and best practice.

Requirements

If you are passionate about problem-solving, can see the bigger picture while still paying attention to the finest detail, and enjoy being part of a team, we encourage you to apply.
