Job description
The successful candidate will provide advanced technical support for UIB-RiscBal activities as part of the FLOODS & DROUGHTS European project, particularly in managing geospatial data, GIS platforms, environmental data integration, risk mapping and design support for GenAI solutions based on geographical data.
The selected candidate's tasks will include:
1.1 Managing and integrating spatial data for inventories, and harmonising and documenting geospatial datasets (precipitation, water volumes, sensors, Copernicus, corporate GIS, etc.). Preparing INSPIRE/FAIR metadata diagrams for datasets to be used in WP3 and WP4. Processing, scrubbing and monitoring geographic database quality (Python, QGIS/ArcGIS, PostgreSQL/PostGIS)
1.2 Developing GIS and supporting models and services. Supporting GIS prototype design and development within the framework of WP5 (GenAI solutions), including vulnerability maps, web viewers and spatial analysis tools for flood and drought risks. Preparing geospatial layers for situational awareness dashboards and tools to support decisionmaking
1.3 Participating in cross-cutting tasks on the project. Supporting RiscBal in setting operational and technical requirements for tools in development. Collaborating in hackathons, co-creation workshops and validation tests (WP3 and WP6). Contributing to technical reports, documentation and official results on the project
1.4 Supporting RiscBal operations. Updating operational mapping for natural risks. Producing cartographic and technical reports at the request of project coordinators. Preparing GIS products for risk notifications and early warning activities., Candidates who hold the qualification corresponding to the required category in the job offer with a non-EU degree, if selected, must present a certificate of equivalence of their non-EU qualification to a European qualification, or proof of having applied for this equivalence, in order to proceed with their hiring. In accordance with article 8 of the REGULATORY AGREEMENT 145140 of 15th June 2022 that approves the regulation governing the recruitment of research staff under chapter 6 allocation of the university budget, as well as technical or operational research staff.

i. The relevant Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research (or person s/he delegates), as chair. ii. The management team for the relevant department. iii. The members of the Research Area Assessment Committee (CARAI). iv. Three experts in the field pertaining to recruitment, where appropriate, appointed by the chair of the committee, having heard from the management team of the department. v. The head of the Management Office for the Research Promotion and Human Resources Programme (or person s/he delegates), acting as secretary, who may speak but not vote. Additional comments

Requirements
Bachelor Degree or equivalent, A Degree in Geography. Specific Requirements
Desktop GIS proficiency: QGIS and/or ArcGIS Pro. Experience in spatial modelling, processing and analysis. Database administration and management skills, particularly PostgreSQL/PostGIS. Python skills applied to geoprocessing, data scrubbing and automating flows. The ability to produce thematic maps and technical reports.
Language requeriments:
An accredited C1 level in Catalan in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). An accredited C1 level in English, issued by the British Council.
Prior experience:
Proven experience ( six months) in GIS tasks applied to land management, spatial analysis and environmental projects. Experience creating, maintaining and monitoring geographical database quality. Experience using Python for data processing and geospatial software development.
Research Field Geography
Years of Research Experience 1 - 4, * Experience in the field (max. 15 points). E.g.: > 3 years (10 points), < 3 years (5 points).
- Other merits (max. +5 points). E.g.: recommendation letters.
Eligibility threshold: 60 points.
